You might want to know a little bit more about me if you're going to be investing your time in watching my videos. So where to begin?
What do I have to offer?
Well let's start with the aquarium side of things; I've been keeping aquariums for almost 20 years and seriously took up aquascaping and building microhabitats about 3 years ago. I've collaborated with some of the biggest names on YouTube (in the fish tank world) behind the scenes and helped in running a number of popular forums and websites. Basically I've been in the background for quite a long time now and I'm stepping out of the shadows. With the whole gardening thing I'm pretty much new to it so I'll be providing a completely different perspective on that than my aquarium stuff. You'll get to watch me fuck it up royally, I've got a fairly big garden and plan on doing lots of different things; from growing my own food to providing shelter for insects and developing a wildlife friendly garden.
As for DIY, I've got a limited number of tools and space so a woodworking channel this is not however I'm not afraid to try new stuff and I'm not a complete idiot so if you're afraid to try some DIY projects then you should be able to make things along with me, I'll be providing plans and easy walkthroughs and everything I make will have been tested before I show you how to make it so you know it's not going to fall apart or blow up.
With the wildlife part of the channel, this has been a huge passion of mine for as long as I can remember. For a long time I wanted to be a vet and for about 2 years I worked in a Vet's surgery. Looking back now I wish I would have gotten into photography and editing at a much younger age because my dream job would be travelling around the world making documentaries like the great Sir. David Attenborough. I have a fairly sound knowledge of wildlife and now that I live in the country I can start seeing more of it first hand. There isn't that much on YouTube n this kind of field so maybe I could break some new ground.
What equipment will I be using?
Well Everything will be shot in a minimum of 1080p and some of the photographs should be better than that. I will mostly be using a Fujifilm bridge camera, my LG G3, my iPhone and I'm looking at making a Raspberry pi motion detection camera with the night vision lens. As for editing I'll be doing it on a custom built computer (not very high spec. i5 3.4ghz quad core, 8gb RAM, 2Gb Nvidia) that is running linux. I'll be using a combination of openshot video editor, inkscape, gimp and blender. What techniques will I be using?
I plan on doing some time lapse photography for the aquarium and garden videos so you can watch plants growing, seeds germinating, a day in the garden or any builds I do can be cut down to just a few minutes. I will be doing some stop motion animation at some point too. Because I'll be using multiple cameras this will allow me to do some picture in picture editing where close ups of what is going on in the overall picture can be displayed. So What are you waiting for hit that SUBSCRIBE button and start enjoying some free, fresh content WITH Dan
